Seven days of applied, cross-disciplinary legal education for lawyers navigating AI, democratic resilience, climate accountability, and cross-border dispute systems.
The defining challenges of our time demand dialogue across legal systems, collaboration across sectors, and leaders capable of navigating complexity with judgement, integrity and purpose.
It is also a philosophy that naturally reflects the educational mission of 91ÊÓƵ. Built on global engagement, interdisciplinary scholarship, academic freedom and societal impact, the University views legal education not merely as the study of law, but as the preparation of professionals who can strengthen institutions, shape public policy and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Fellowship brings together lawyers from diverse jurisdictions, sectors and legal traditions to examine the governance challenges shaping the future of legal practice — learning from distinguished faculty, judges, practitioners, policymakers, and one another.
Unlike conventional executive programmes centred on the transfer of knowledge, this Fellowship is built around the development of professional competencies, leadership and enduring global networks. Every keynote, workshop, simulation and collaborative exercise is intentionally designed to strengthen the judgement, strategic thinking and leadership required of lawyers operating in an increasingly interconnected world.
Founded in 2009 with the vision of creating India's first global law school, JGLS has developed into an internationally connected institution — drawing on an interdisciplinary ecosystem spanning public policy, international affairs, business, technology and governance to create an immersive platform that moves beyond conventional executive legal education.
This is not simply a programme about the future of law. It is a Fellowship designed for the future lawyer.
Create opportunities for practising lawyers to future-proof their legal practice through emerging competencies, technologies, and strategic leadership.
Accelerate international career pathways through meaningful collaborations across jurisdictions and sectors.
Engage with a truly global learning ecosystem, leveraging JGU's international partnerships and cross-border academic community.
Provide a platform for lawyers to expand a global professional network of mentors, practitioners, policymakers, and peers.
Learn from the world's leading legal minds across academia, practice, government, and the judiciary.
The Fellowship draws upon a distinctive institutional environment to bring together lawyers, judges, academics, policymakers and industry leaders from across jurisdictions.
The most significant challenges facing lawyers today — AI adoption, climate accountability, cross-border dispute resolution — all require the same underlying capability: governance judgment under uncertainty.
Experiencing the new frontier of legal practice where AI augments capability, but human judgment, advocacy and responsibility remain irreplaceable.
Navigating the forces reshaping our world through expert perspectives and immersive experiences in governance, sustainability, conflict and global legal leadership
Culture, Connections & Community. Where learning becomes experience — creating space for meaningful connections, cultural discovery and shared moments beyond the classroom
Every day follows the same time structure. What changes is the format — workshops, microworkshops, roundtables, simulations, fireside chats.
Content is jurisdictionally inclusive. Exercises draw from multiple legal systems. Participants' diversity is an asset, not a variable.
Fellows work with real problems, not textbook hypotheticals. Each session produces a tangible output they can take back to practice.

AI adoption, climate accountability, and cross-border dispute resolution look like separate specialisms. The Fellowship treats them as one — the analytical rigour of legal doctrine paired with the strategic judgement institutions now demand of their lawyers.
Rather than organising the Fellowship around traditional legal disciplines, the programme is structured around the defining governance challenges confronting legal professionals in the twenty-first century.
The daily schedule is fixed to align with the institution's dining arrangements. Within this consistent framework, the format of each session varies each day to prevent monotony and sustain engagement.
Full cohort works on one problem or exercise together. Faculty-facilitated debrief.
Cohort splits into 3–4 parallel groups, each attending a 45-min focused session, then reconvenes for a 30-min plenary.
Roleplayed scenario — participants act as advisors, negotiators, or institutional leaders responding to a live problem.
Small roundtable format. Practitioners, policymakers and fellows exchange views on a defined policy question. No slides.
Facilitated on-stage conversation between a senior practitioner and a faculty moderator, plus fellow Q&A.
Issue-specific structured discussion. Each table takes a different angle and reports to plenary.
Each module includes its objective, competencies, part-by-part keynote content, and a Key Takeaway that fellows carry forward.
Assessment runs across all seven days. Fellows produce tangible outputs in each session that together constitute a professional portfolio.

Every session is led by someone who has done the work — general counsel, regulators, arbitrators, and technologists who teach from practice, not from theory alone.
