The discussion began with the recent observations of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India calling for a zero-tolerance approach towards AI-generated, non-existent, fake or hallucinated legal material in adjudicatory processes. The Court鈥檚 emphasis on verification, human control, and judicial responsibility provided an important starting point for the session this time.

Prof. Naren discussed how AI is no longer a distant technological question for the legal system. It is now entering everyday disputes through AI-generated images and text, copyright claims, deepfakes, misleading digital content, algorithmic decision-making, online evidence, and questions of liability and accountability.

The session also examined the growing interface between AI and Intellectual Property, including authorship, ownership, training data, copyright infringement, personality rights, and the challenges courts may face when creative and commercial outputs are increasingly produced with the assistance of AI systems.

At CSCAILR, we remain committed to contributing to informed, responsible, and future-ready conversations on AI, law, and justice.
